Take a look at our agenda. Which one of our speakers would you like to speak with for 15 minutes, face-to-face, and what would you want to discuss? (NOTE: No, I'm not offering, and no, this isn't a contest...but...one of the uniquely cool things about the GEOINT Symposium is that it can happen spontaneously!)

Barry Tilton: I'm with Matt - I have supported Gen(R) Carlson previously, and he was a very forward thinker. Would LOVE to get a feel for where his head is in/re: the future NRO productivity.
Paul Davis: I would like to meet with Dr. Regina Dugan. I enjoyed her presentation at the 6th annual Disruptive Technologies Conference.
Lindsey Dunn: Rep. Ruppersberger or Maj. Gen. Custer. Meeting someone who creates U.S. policy is always interesting and from what I've seen from Maj. Gen. Custer, he's definitely a fascinating speaker!

What is the best memory that you have from the various GEOINT Symposiums? Is there a particular speaker, panel, entertainment, venue, etc. that you look back on and say "WOW!"

John Morris: General Clapper in his big 20-gal cowboy hat - he epitimized the good time that we were all having at GEOINT2007 in San Antonio.
Barry Tilton: A new best - 2 answers... (1) Skunk's performance at the opener of 2009. (2) Kevin Meiner's photo of LGen Clapper with a Mullet.
Lindsey Dunn: Watching the 5-year video for the first time! However, I think I'll have a new one after this year!

Jordan Fuhr posted World Classic Rockers

Has anyone ever seen the World Classic Rockers perform? They are playing the closing celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m., and it should be a blast ... maybe better than last year's with Phil Vassar???

Keith Masback: And now that the closing celebration will be in casual attire, it should be all that much better. I was having a hard time 'letting loose' and getting into Phil Vassar's performance (which I thought was great, btw) in my suit and tie...
Matt Langan: Can't wait to see them! Also, we have posted some videos of World Classic Rockers on got geoint? Recommend checking it out...they are awesome. http://www.gotgeoint.com/archives/fridays-food-for-thought-world-classic-rockers-and-supergroups/
Lindsey Dunn: I'm excited! Nothing beats singing at the top of your lungs to a Journey song!

The Persistent Surveillance Panel is scheduled for Monday Oct 19. We are breaking the panel into 2 parts: "Exploitation" and "Strategies and Operations". The panels consist of senior DoD and IC officials from various agencies and departments. We have operational experts as well as policy folks sitting on the panel. I am amazed at the caliber of people the Committee assembled. I would love to get attendee questions lined up before the event so ple... [read more]

Bob Arbetter: This looks good to me John. From the work I have been doing in this area, it is clear to me that good persistence is a product of true multi int intell (including HUMINT, Biometrics, socio-cultural, financial, cyber combined with traditional sensors)... [read more]
John Morris: The multi-int persistence on demand concept is not limited to just a few int's, but can and should incorporate many int's. The difficulty is getting the priorities for collection aligned in all of the int's that one might need in order to be effectiv... [read more]
Dan Cress: The recognition that persistent surveillance is a process and requires integration of collection and analysis by leaders within the geospatial community is extremely important. The multiINT integration with collection is strongly aided by the abilit... [read more]

John Morris posted GEOINT & MASINT

We're having a breakout panel discussion on GEOINT & MASINT on Wed afternoon. Please join me in inviting the panel members to get an early start by beginning the discussion now. Let us know what's on your mind?

John Morris: I'm curious - who knows what MASINT really is? Or how it and GEOINT differ? If you answer 'no' to either question, then you really need to attend the breakout session on Day 3, 21 Oct 2009 and find out.

Our session at GEOINT is about the pitfalls of LBS: security issues, liability, and signal availability and reliability. But the bigger issue may be that we are thinking about the myriad applications yet to be discovered; the very unique possibility that we'll find applications not yet imagined but for which there is enormous potential. Yes, we should prepare for unintended consequences but we need not let our imagination be hindered at a time wh... [read more]

Mike Shackelford posted Location Based Services

The Defense and Intelligence communities have not fully embraced nor exploited the huge advances seen in the commercial mobile phone and geospatial markets. What location aware mobile phone app should DoD or the Intelligence Community make available to their operators?

John Westcott posted My best memory from GEOINT

They have all been amazing for different reasons. I'm often asked who was the most amazing keynote speaker and that's a slam dunk as they say . Former DCI Jim Woolsey talking about Iraq in I think 2005 in San Antonio...just amazing. No notes and no graphics( no powerpoint and no video clips. If you were there you'll never forget it.

Stu Shea: I have watched that video many times. The way in which Jim just captured everyone's full attention was amazing. What is more amazing, was 3 minutes before he started, we asked him to speak for 20-25 minnutes LONGER than expected becuase the next spea... [read more]
